Poverty stricken communities should be supported to achieve an environment of sustainability where they no longer depend on material donations from Third Parties but rather rely on their own initiatives.
From Lotus’ experience, working in such communities for the last 9 years, this could be a process of 5-7 years. The process starts with water projects (water filters, water wells, water ponds) and could end with the establishment of Co-operatives enabling the communities to address their own infrastructure projects, increase their food production and animal raising activities, and improve education and skills
Lotus strives to establish, and leave behind, sustainable families within community structures (with or without Co-operatives), who are able to live sustainable lives and contribute to the economic and social welfare of their communities.
